Display holds one setting: how timestamps read everywhere in your Burrow, from the audit trail to when a machine was last seen.
Time format#
Pick from the dropdown and the change takes effect at once, with nothing to save.
Format | Reads as | Suits |
|---|---|---|
Relative | just now, 12m ago, 3h ago, 5d ago | Watching something happen now, such as a machine enrolling. |
12-hour | Sep 8, 3:04 PM | Reading back over a day or a week. |
24-hour | Sep 8, 15:04 | Lining timestamps up against logs from elsewhere. |
The two absolute formats follow your browser's locale and time zone, so the same event reads in local time for whoever is looking at it.
Relative is the starting point. If a timestamp needs to be exact, such as when you are comparing an audit entry against a log from another system, one of the absolute formats is the one to be on.
